Society, Communication and Media (SCM)
This program will give you in-depth knowledge of sociology, media and communication. It will develop your conceptual, methodological and analytical skills for a wide range of applications in sociology and media studies. After graduation, your career pathway may lead to the consultancy sector or to roles in big data analysis, digital media, journalism, research and opinion polling, academia, or public administration.

Program description
In a rapidly evolving media environment, marked by changing communication technologies, shifting public discourse, and complex social dynamics, the program offers essential insights into how media shapes—and is shaped by—society. We emphasise the development of your critical thinking and practical skills in the field of empirical research. On the one hand, the curriculum is oriented on sociological and media theory and on the other hand, it provides knowledge and skills in the field of empirical research methodology, using both quantitative and qualitative analytical research methods, applicable to both mainstream and social media.
The program offers an extensive range of courses, covering areas such as digital media, political communication, cultural studies and discourse analysis on the media side, as well as social theory, civil society, globalisation, anthropology of social media, and ethnography on the sociological side.
