Geopolitical Studies (GPS)

This program analyses and explores processes that shape global geopolitics and geoeconomics, particularly in geostrategic regions. The program will cultivate your analytical skills. You will  connect different fields of study and combine a global perspective with attention to detail and local interests. Therefore, the program is an excellent stepping stone for both future academic and professional careers. There is an option of a double degree in collaboration with National Taiwan University.

early-bird: 28 February 2026

regular: 30 April 2026

Important note for visa-seeking students: Please read about the visa process before applying. You are responsible for organizing your legal stay in Czechia and the visa process can be quite lengthy. We therefore strongly recommend the early-bird deadline.

GPS is focused on understanding how the world works in the age of unprecedented connectivity, security downgrade, and growing geostrategic tensions. You will learn why geography may be a tyranny but also a country’s greatest advantage. Become skilled at geopolitical and geoeconomic analysis, gain empirical knowledge of regions and countries, develop your analytical, writing, and argumentation skills as well as understand cutting-edge theories.

Our courses are taught by leading academic specialists with extensive policy networks and practitioners. Throughout the curriculum, interactive lectures and seminars are designed to build empirical knowledge and help you acquire analytical, language, writing, and argumentation skills. Specialized courses and modules focus on areas such as world politics, global power shifts, disintegration processes, failed states, war, natural resources and conflicts, international law, and political risk analysis. As a career-focused program, GPS emphasizes hands-on experience and offers practically oriented courses like Political Risk Analysis, Geopolitical Debates, Geopolitics of Defence Industry, and Arms Trade.
