Political Science
From democratic governance and political systems to nondemocratic forms of government, this PhD program offers broad training in the major fields of contemporary political science. Combining comparative approaches with diverse methodological perspectives, it enables you to pursue research on topics, such as regime change, multilevel governance, decentralization and separatism, and the history of political ideas. The program prepares you for research and teaching careers, as well as analytical and expert positions in public administration, international organizations, media, and the private sector.

Program description
This study program is primarily designated for graduates with a Master’s degree in Political Science or any other field of Social Sciences who intend to deepen their knowledge in Political Science.
The doctoral study of political science as a multidisciplinary discipline equips you with knowledge in the field of comparative political science, theory and analysis of democratic and nondemocratic forms of government (changes in political systems, with a special emphasis on development trends connected with modernization and democratization), multilevel governance (with emphasis on democratic governance at various levels, i.e., national, regional, and municipal), decentralization, separatism and other aspects of political science. The program also enables the profiling of doctoral students focusing on political theory and the history of political ideas.
