Economics and Finance (BEF)

A copy of a diploma to show at least completed secondary or high school studies or confirmation that ongoing secondary or high school studies will be completed in the current academic year. Confirmation of studies may be substituted with a transcript of records, provided that these are from the same academic year as the application.

You are required to submit at least:

• High school diploma/school leaving certificate, or
• International Baccalaureate diploma (must be a DP program!),  or
• A levels (minimum 2)

Submit a confirmation from your school detailing your current studies, expected graduation date and anticipated results. You will have the option to submit your actual diploma later during the registration for the first year in September. Download our standard form for guidelines – your school can use it as a template.

Do you have multiple degrees?

The application form itself only allows you to fill in one degree – please choose the one that is a level below your desired education. Then add all your degrees and transcripts to the attachments – you can upload multiple documents in each category. Don’t forget to also mention all your degrees in the CV!

The transcripts from at least the last two years of study should be submitted (optionally, it is possible to submit earlier years as well).

Transcript of records from previous studies is a document describing the content and scope of your completed education including grades (it can be a diploma supplement, final exam grades, predicted grades, or similar).

Transcripts from unfinished studies (e.g.: You have studied 3 semesters of a Bachelor’s study, but haven’t finished) can be included as well to show the full scope of your experience. We recommend adding those as well; they can definitely strengthen your application!

Structured CV should include your previous work experience, extracurricular activities, internships, volunteering, awards or other relevant achievements and skills, if applicable.

There is no specific template or length required, but the document must be in English.

The recommended length is approximately 2 000 characters, including spaces. There is no specific template required, but the document must be in English. The letter should include explanation why you decided to apply to the Economics and Finance program. Further, in can include any of the following:

• what interests you about economics and finance
• what you expect to learn and how you imagine your future after graduating from the program
• what might be your positive addition to the student body, i.e. describe your background, interests or talents that might add to the student community 

You should provide a certificate from one of the following standardized tests:

• IELTS Academic – the minimum required overall band score of 6.5, with a band score of 6.0 or above in all four components;
• TOEFL Internet-Based Test (iBT) & TOEFL iBT Home Edition – the minimum required overall score of 83, with a minimum score of 20 in the four sections;
• Cambridge B2 First (former FCE) – minimum Cambridge English Scale Score of 175;
• Cambridge C1 Advanced (former CAE) or C2 Proficiency (former CPE) receiving a certificate;
• PTE Academic test – the minimum required score above 56;
• LanguageCert ESOL – Communicator with High Pass, Expert or Mastery;
• Duolingo English Test (DET) – the minimum required overall score of 120, with a subscore of 105 or above in all four components.

A standardized English test is not required if you:

• have studied in English at the secondary school level for at least two years;
• have studied in English at the university level for at least one year in a full degree program.

When a score from an English-language test is not presented, you should provide a confirmation of your use of English during your prior studies to support your claim. The confirmation should contain the information that the study program was conducted in English as a language of study. A diploma supplement or transcript containing this information can also be accepted.

Part of the degree program is highly mathematical in content and therefore another pre-condition for acceptance is to reach the required number of points set by the Dean for that particular academic year, through one of the following options:

• Predicted or final score in the International Baccalaureate Diploma program(IB) Group 5 – Mathematics – a predicted or final score of Mathematics: applications and interpretation SL, Mathematics: applications and interpretation HL, Mathematics: analysis and approaches SL, Mathematics: analysis and approaches HL will be assessed. A minimum overall predicted or final IB subject score of 30 out of 42 is required; 
• Predicted or final score in the European Baccalaureate (EB) course Mathematics, at least 3 hours per week in the final two years and written or oral examination. A minimum overall predicted score at least 70% is required.
• Grade from A level Mathematics in the General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE A Levels) not including General Studies, Critical Thinking, Thinking Skills, Knowledge and Enquiry, Global Perspectives and Research or Project Work. We are happy to consider applicants with the combination of A Level Mathematics and A or AS Level Further Mathematics. Please, indicate whether or not the applicant’s school or college offers Further Mathematics classes. The required minimum A Level is ABB. Applicants taking four subjects will not be at an advantage compared to those taking three. GCSEs or equivalent qualifications may be taken into account but will not be considered without A Levels;
• Score in the College Scholastics Ability Test (CSAT, Suneung) subject Mathematics;
• Score in the SAT section Mathematics.
• Score in the ACT Composite Test section Mathematics.
• Score in AP Calculus AB exam, or in AP Calculus BC exam.
• Score in the SCIO Mathematics Test.
• Final exam score in Mathematics from ÚJOP, Charles University, Poděbrady. 

For SCIO, SAT and ACT, only test results from the year of the intake or from the previous three calendar years can be accepted. An alternative to all listed tests or exams is to have passed the course JEB122 Introductory Mathematics at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University.

The required minimum along with the distribution of admission points for all the options of proving Mathematical abilities and knowledge of English will be determined using the latest publicly available statistical distributions of grades and scores in March 2026.
