Join an internationally oriented PhD program in Economics and Finance that combines rigorous training in economic theory with cutting-edge quantitative analysis. Program description

This PhD program concentrates on economic theory and its applications in economic and financial analyses. It will train you in the modelling and analyses of economic processes and the behavior of economic agents using modern microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, and finance.

At its core, your PhD journey will revolve around research that genuinely interests you. You will receive rigorous training in both economic theory and applied economics, while working toward publishing your research in academic journals—an essential part of your doctoral experience, which is also one of the core requirements.

Throughout the program, you will work closely with your academic supervisor and collaborate with other researchers. You will also have access to a range of opportunities to grow professionally, including research seminars, teaching experience, and research assistantships. On top of that, you can make a variety of research visits to the best universities in the world.

Certificates of graduate education (to be submitted upon the enrolment at the latest)
Certificates of graduate education, i.e., finished Master’s degree. A certificate of completion of a Master’s degree does not have to be included in the application. It must be submitted upon enrollment at the latest. One recommendation letter from a prospective supervisor, preferably affiliated with the Institute of Economic Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University. The letter of a prospective supervisor should confirm the willingness of the preferably IES-associated academic economist to be the applicant’s supervisor in case of a successful application. Both recommendation letters should be attached to the application. The letters should also be emailed to the Chairman of the Doctoral Council at the Institute of Economic Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University, prof.
