1. Choose your program and carefully read the requirements
Are you passionate about a specific field, but unsure how exactly to pursue it? One of the amazing aspects of social sciences is the sheer amount of different approaches and points of view you can take to explore them. Our programs offer many different combinations of social sciences and it may be difficult to choose the one that will be right for you.
Read about the programs carefully
Go through the program description and the profile of a graduate to get a better idea of the program’s focus.
Explore the program’s curriculum
Our course book Karolinka will allow you to browse the current curriculum of each program. You will be able to see the mandatory and elective courses that the program offers and have a better understanding of what your schedule might look like. While some of the electives may differ for your intake, specific courses will give you the best idea of whether this program is right for you.
Study the program’s admission requirements
For all programs, you will be required to fill out an online form and upload documents related to your student profile. However, some of the mandatory attachments may differ depending on the program of choice. Visit the program page to carefully review the list of requested documents and plan for obtaining them before the deadline.
Learn the deadlines
Find out when the deadline for the admission round is and plan accordingly. Please read about the visa process carefully before applying. You are responsible for organizing your legal stay in Czechia and the visa application process can get quite lengthy, which is why we recommend that visa-seeking students apply for the early-bird deadline (28 February).
2. Work on your online application
Your applications have to be submitted online through the application portal.
You can apply to as many programs as you want, but you must submit a separate application for each. In case you want to make changes to an already submitted application, please email us at admissions@fsv.cuni.cz – do NOT start another application for the same program! Duplicate applications cannot be accepted.
Need help? Please, contact us at admissions@fsv.cuni.cz.
Create an account on our application portal and start the application for your chosen program
You can start your application in two ways: At each program’s page you can find the direct link to the application to that particular program or you can access the general application page here. From there, you can access the general conditions for application at our faculty, as well as program-specific conditions for our Bachelor’s and Master’s programs, and also create a new application.
Fill in the application and submit the documents
Fill in the personal information and data about your previous study as the form fields guide you. The fields with a blue asterisk are mandatory. Personal data will be used exclusively for organizing the admission process and program enrolments.
All documents need to be submitted in English, Czech or Slovak. If the original language of the document is different, it must be translated into one of these three langauges. If you want to add other, non-mandatory documents that you feel will strengthen your application, you can upload them in the “other” field of the application.
Submit the application and pay the application fee
You can work on your application continuously and keep editing and saving it. Once you are done, submit it by clicking the “Send” button. Afterwards, the application fee instructions will show. You can pay by card, QR code or bank transfer. Applications unpaid by the deadline cannot be processed.
The application fee is 910 CZK (approx. 36 EUR).
The application fee must be paid in full either by card or via bank transfer. No cash payments are possible. You will find the payment instructions at the end of your online application form. The application fee has to be paid no later than the day of the deadline in order for the application to be assessed in the particular term. There is no possibility of a fee waiver. The application fee is separate from the tuition fee; therefore, application fee must be paid even by the scholarship applicants.
3. Wait for the admissions results
We check the application for completeness
First, our admissions team will check your application to make sure all your required attachments have been submitted. In case anything mandatory is missing, you will be contacted and asked to remedy the situation. The English proficiency documents will also be checked for the required minimum. Applications that don’t comply with the required minimum English proficiency or aren’t complete by the deadline will not be evaluated.
Program committees evaluate the applications after the deadline
After the deadline, the committees will receive the applications with all attachments and evaluate them. This takes approximately three to four weeks. The committee will assign points in various evaluated categories and decide on acceptance or rejection of the applicants. Top-performing candidates can be awarded the tuition fee reductions.
You will get the results
Approximately 3-4 weeks after the deadline, the results will be sent out via email. You will receive them at the email address that you filled in the application. The points breakdown will be available in the application portal.
